“Every time we make the decision to love someone, we open ourselves to great suffering, because those we most love cause us not only great joy but also great pain.” ― Henri J.M. Nouwen

The Star newspaper - Opinion Section - Spirit of 1 Malaysia
YESTERDAY, I was "a" (missing from the published version) witness to yet another example of 1Malaysia in its true form.
A Chinese man, who is a stroke sufferer, was crossing a busy road and there to help him was a young Malay man, guiding him with one hand, and with the other raised to stop the busy oncoming traffic.
After they had crossed the road safely, they parted ways with smiles and no doubt, with satisfaction in their heart.
This is the real embodiment of 1Malaysia. We help each other in times of need and adversity; oblivious to skin colour or ethnicity.
We only see a fellow man or woman in need and we extend our hand without fear or favour.
In fact, 1Malaysia is a concept which we can see in the most unlikely places and situations.
Thus, we are indeed very lucky to be able to experience all these in a lovely country called Malaysia.

ORIGINAL VERSION
Today I bear witness of yet another spirit of 1 Malaysia in it's true form. A Chinese man, who is a stroke sufferer trying to cross a busy road. Guiding him with one hand, and another raised to stop the busy oncoming traffic is a young Malay guy.
After they have crossed the road safely, they parted way with smile on their face and no doubt, with satisfaction in their heart.
This is the real embodiment of 1 Malaysia. We help each other in time of need and adversity; oblivious to skin colour or ethnicity. We only see a fellow men or women in need and we extended it impartially without any fear or favour. In fact, 1 Malaysia is a concept which we can see at the most unlikely places and situations. Thus, we are indeed very lucky to be able to experience all these in a lovely country called Malaysia.
